FAQ
Do you take my insurance?
While I do not take insurance directly, you will be provided with a monthly superbill to submit for insurance reimbursement. It is important to check with your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement policies, including those related to Telehealth.
Tell me about Telehealth
All communication will be done through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. All you’ll need to do is answer the incoming call at our pre-arranged session time. You’ll be brought into our virtual space and our session will begin. You’ll be able to join using your smartphone, tablet, or computer.Phone sessions are also available, if you prefer to have your session over the phone. Much like video sessions we will schedule a phone call and conduct our session at your appointment time.
How do I know if this is a “good fit”?
The therapeutic relationship must feel supportive, inclusive, and collaborative. Just as any relationship, it should “feel right”. In our first few sessions, we will begin to get to know one another and get a sense of the relationship being built. Should there be barriers, clinical or otherwise, we will discuss them. A referral for an alternative provider will be offered based on your needs.
How long will the therapy take and how can I get the most out of it?
This is a very common question. Unfortunately, there is no general answer. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place. What is important though, is active participation in our sessions in addition to active practice between sessions. There is immense growth and change that occurs between sessions, as ultimately, your practice will lead to desired outcomes. We will work in collaboration to set you up for that “action”.
Will you be able to communicate with my child’s other providers/school personnel?
It is important to include necessary parties in the therapeutic work related to children. Families often find it helpful for a therapist to communicate with teachers, principals, and outside service providers. If this is a need your family has, we will collaborate ahead of time to discuss my participation and/or limitations.
